The lure of adventure is strong, and nowhere in the world does it find greater expression than here in the Hawaiian Islands. Oahu Activities are numerous and varied. In Waikiki Beach itself, you can learn to stand-up paddle board, surf, canoe paddle and a couple of other water sports essentially yards off the beach. Is parasailing your thing? Do you long to soar high above the beach? How about ghost tours Hawaii style, or a Segway Tour of downtown. Oahu offers so many things to do that are fun and unique, it’s hard to just pick a few. Beaches here offer far more than sunbathing and people watching. And if you want to getaway from Waikiki, there are many other great beaches like Kailua beach on the other side of the island. They’re ideal for all kinds of water sports including swimming, surfing, windsurfing, boogie boarding, snorkeling and scuba diving. Whether you’re looking for high adventure on the waves, a romantic spot to watch the sunset, or a protected swimming area for the kids, it’s sure to be nearby.
Speaking of kids Oahu is also a great "Ohana" or Family Friendly Island. There are a variety of exciting activities designed specifically with kids and families in mind. How about a submarine ride, witness sunken ships, airliners and reef structures. Ride the thrilling waterslides at Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park. Get up close and swim with dolphins, then go see the sea turtles, stingrays, sharks, and moray eels at Sea Life Park. Spend the day at the Honolulu Zoo or Waikiki Aquarium and see animal and marine life like you’ve never seen anywhere else.
Many hotels and condominiums also offer programs for kids that include activities such as lei and kite making, lauhala basket weaving, and sandcastle building. This is one family vacation where boredom is never a problem!
Oahu will always be known as the gathering place, and a wonderful island to start your exploration of "The Islands of Aloha".......
Great golf is
another reason Oahu is a favorite destination.
There are more
golf courses on Oahu than any
other island. You can choose from more
than forty public and private courses, ranging
from casual municipal links to elegant resort
courses. They offer not only superb
challenges, but also spectacular vistas.
The backdrop for a shot here might be forested
mountains, desert-like terrain or the impressive
sweep of the Pacific. There are even
courses built on former ranch lands, fields of
sugar cane, and seaside layouts that resemble
British links. Constant sunshine makes for long
hours of dependable golfing weather, and the
spectacular surrounding scenery quiets the mind
and stirs the heart. You may play some of
your best golf ever. Check out some the
golf resorts listed at left, or when you come to
Oahu, just pick one. You can plan relaxing
and pleasant golf at public tracks like Olomana
Golf Links, or even
Luana Hills Country Club.
Of course, if you want a real challenge, I would
suggest you go try and tame "The World's Most
Challenging Golf Course",
Ko'olau Golf Club.
You will want to make sure you take the pro
shops advice about which tee boxes to use, Ko'olau can bite you hard if you pick wrong.
So relax and enjoy some of the most pleasant and
challenging golf in the world. It’s all right
here,
Golf on Oahu, The Gathering Place.
