When people think about a traditional tropical paradise, Kauai often comes to forefront. It is no secret that Kauai has one of the rainiest spots on the planet and that the rest of the island is just as tropical. Kauai’s spectacular natural environment and easy accessibility make it a perfect destination for today’s adventure-seeker. Kauai Activities may include a nature hike through the native forests of Kokee State Park, a kayak tour up one Hawaii’s only navigable rivers, or just a leisurely walk on the beach. You can rent mountain bikes and take guided tours or see why Kauai is also a hiker's paradise. The rewards are unparalleled views, tropical vegetation, streams, waterfalls, swimming holes and most of all, exquisite isolation. The Napali Coast, Waimea Canyon and Kokee region has the most extensive network of trails. Ride the skies into the waterfall-lined crater of Mt. Waialeale or skim through a twisting valley of the Napali coastline. Helicopter flight-seeing tours are available from Lihue, Port Allen and Princeville.
By land, by sea, or by air, Kauai is a refreshing fantasy full of adventure and discovery.
The water tours that are an integral part of Kauai are varied and exciting. Take a 5 1/2 hour snorkel and scuba tour on one of the catamarans. Or jump on one of the raft tours of the Napali Coast, one of the most spectacular spots in the world. You can even go to the “dry side” of the island, otherwise known as the Poipu side and go on a Magical Dolphin Tour.
From the spectacular views at Waimea Canyon to the verdant vistas along the Napali Coast, Kauai can take your breath away. Don’t forget go searching for Puff the Magic Dragon in sleepy little Hanalei. You will have to yield to oncoming traffic on the one lane bridge, but you won’t care as the valley is definitely the magical place of tropical Hawaiian lore. Many people gravitate to Kauai because it has all that natural beauty and a gentle laidback atmosphere.
Like the Hollywood filmmakers who
shoot here, golfers go on location to
Kauai golf courses for the
spectacular scenic backdrops. Here, the courses are crafted by
nature and helped along by some of the game’s most
talented architects. The views could be considered an
obstacle, as your mind may wander onto seaside cliffs,
into forested hills, or smack-dab into the ocean. Just
don’t let your ball do the same. Each of Kauai’s courses
has its own definition of “breathtaking” and there’s
always one nearby no matter where you stay. Golf
Digest named
The Prince Course the #1 golf
course in Hawaii. Down at the other end,
Poipu Bay Golf Course is
a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design that has hosted
the PGA Grand Slam for the past 14 years and
Puakea Golf Course started as a quirky 10 hole
course that Robin Nelson made into one of the
best 18 holes of this Kauai Golf Paradise.
Whichever
course you choose, you can count on spectacular
golf with breathtaking views and
demanding play hole after hole. Keeping your head
down while playing
golf on Kauai may not be an option.
